Kingdom of Priests

In an era where everyone even Christian are questioning who they are or who they are to be. Peter and John, both gave us a glimpse of who we are to be, as believers. We are to be a kingdom of priests.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. ‭‭

1 Peter‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

…Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Revelation‬ ‭1:4b-6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

What does that mean to us as just common believers? Are we to become a pastor or go into ministry. First, let’s look at what God set up as the priesthood on Genius.

God’s initial plan was for all His people to be priests. When God delivered the Israelites from Egypt God asked all of them to come into His presence, they refused because of fear. While Moses was away with God the people created a golden calf to worship because this sin the priesthood was from the tribe of Levi, one of the twelve sons Jacob also rename by God as Israel. They were set by God to be a priesthood that would serve Him and the tribes of Israel in the temple.

All the people from the Levite tribe were to serve in the temple one would function as the high priest, he was too oversee overall the other priests. There were many other areas a service in the temple, from raising livestock, harvesting and processing olive for lamp oil, making bread, maintaining the temple, and the service of offerings that the other tribes would bring to the temple.

Later King David would divide up the tribe of Levi so that anyone would only have to serve in the temple two weeks a year and during all the major feasts. This allowed the servants of the temple, except the High Priest to also have other occupations.

It took ever part of the priesthood to give the acceptable offerings that God required. It took the whole Levite community to create at this place of worship.

I’m just a believer like you, I do not pastor a church, I do serve groups of people. I am just a servant of God working with various groups investing in people. I have a full-time job in the school system while serving God in His kingdom. We must get involved and invest in other people’s lives. I started Swords of Truth for this purpose, while still volunteering at an indoor skate park, work with the above group of pastors, and consistently attend a church outside of the battle creek area.

A priest is just a person that serves the people of God while bringing worship unto our King. You are part of the “Royal Priesthood and Holy Nation”. You just need to dedicate your, heart, to King Jesus and ask God where to begin to serve. The lowest place in temple service is as important as the position of High Priest. Your position of service is are important as a pastor of a megachurch.

If we are to make a difference in our cities, we need to make a unified statement as the Temple did in Jerusalem a place where God dwells. A place where many ministers can come together and worship God all having a part, not one great than another. We need to begin to view the church as more than just our individual churches, but the Church of _________ (insert your city name).

I have been working with various pastors from our city to attempt to unify the churches, to bring the churches together to demonstrate His Kingdom. One of the pastors continuously says “No Logos, No Egos” we what to see not an individual church but to see the Church of Battle Creek rise.

What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.

1 Corinthians 14:26

If we all bring our part out of our local churches to create a dwelling place for God. The people of out cities would see the Kingdom of God. they will know we are follower of Jesus by our love for one another.

Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV
