By What Faith?

Over the past year (2020), I have seen people having faith (belief) in many things, in science, in our government, in a coming vaccine, and in the universe. We have been given all sorts of things to have faith (belief) in but none of these beliefs is the faith that the righteous live by.

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

James 2:21-24 ESV

“Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”. The righteous have a belief in God, not just any god but the Creator and Sustainer of the world. The only true and living God and his only son Jesus. The world has tried and is succeeding in making the people believe all religions serve the same God but are called by other names. This is a falsehood. There is only one God and the only way to him is through Jesus Christ, not any other teaching.

How do we Believe in God?

First, you need to make Jesus your personal Lord and Saviour by talking with Him (pray), renouncing your sin (repent), ask Him to lead your life. this will renew your spirit and align it to God.

Second, and most important develop a relationship with the Father and Jesus. In developing a relationship you need to spend time with God, we do that the same way you would develop a relationship with another person, spending time with them. Read the bible and talking with God (praying). I hear some of you say but I can’t hear God so how do we have a conversation. Your renews spirit can hear God you just have to recognize when you God is talking. God’s voice will sound just like your voice but will lead you in what is good. God would never tell you to harm yourself or another person, and everything He tells you will align with the bible.

If you know what the bible says you will know what God says. God will never contradict His own word. When people want to know more about a historic person like “George Washington”, they will read everything they can about him. They get to know him in a different way than everyone else. I have a friend that has studied our founding father like this. He can look at today’s world situations and knows how President Washington would react. We can do the same with God and know how He would react to our personal and life situations.

APPLICATION

• Decide to Follow Jesus by accepting to allow Him to lead your life.
• Read the bible on a consistent basis.
• Talk with God regularly (daily).
