Who Care What They Think

In my last post, I talked about searching out God’s word for yourself. I share how God was reforming my views on end-time events. God has been doing this with me over the last couple of years but I had concerns about sharing them with anyone. People may not understand me or what if I was wrong.

Last year my wife and I made a very hard decision. God was showing us that it was time to leave our local church. God started talking to us about leaving over two years before we left. For years I was taught by any church I attended that “God would not send you out unless He tells you where you are to go”. I asked God to show this to me in the bible, God showed me many stories where that was not 100% true. I knew that what God was showing me was not something that many in the church would agree with, so I did not share it with them.

When God gives you something and others don’t agree, it is so easy to take offense or be hurt, if your eyes are on yourself and what you want to do, but if you are following God’s truth it won’t matter how others take it. So when it was time to leave the conversation with pastors when the best it could have. I was not trying to convince myself or anyone else I was discussing from a place of truth. I knew what God showed this to me so that when it was time to share with my pastor it would go fine. The week after I left pastor preached a message out of a totally different scripture that God did not show me.

We have to be confident in what God shows us with our wavering like the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15.

And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.” But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away, for she is crying out after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” And he answered, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭15:21-28‬ ‭ESV

This woman was don’t of the Jewish people but must have had heard that there was a man named Jesus that has been healing people. She began to search out this man, maybe asking others about Him. Some called Him Lord and others may have called Him Son of David. Through all of this searching, she became aware of who He might really be. She knew that Jesus is what she needed for the healing of her daughter and for herself. Then the day came when she physically found Him, she was unwavering in her persued.

I can imagine this woman did not just crying out once “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.”. She probably did over and over following them down the road, until the disciples go so tired of it they stop Jesus and begged Him to send her away. While they were stopped and Jesus was talking to the disciples she was able to catch up and knelt at his feet.

Calling him Lord many times began to turn her heart she came to know Jesus as her LORD, that she came before Him she knelt at the feet of her LORD.

So even when Jesus shared that the bread of life was not for non-Israelites (dogs). She did not take offense she was willing to take the insulating remark because she knew the truth one that He was the LORD and two He could heal. So she replied, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” She was again referring to the Lordship of Jesus by stating the crumbs came from the Master’s table. Jesus never stated the kids were at a table or even a master’s table. She was letting Jesus know that he is now her master.

Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly. What did she have faith in, she had faith in Jesus as LORD, not just a healer.

She first heard about Jesus, she called out for Him, Then she realized that He was, and believed in Jesus as her LORD and Master.
