How can this be? This is truly one of God’s greatest mysteries. God came to the earth embodies with humanity, this is what the church calls Incarnation. God taking on the human form and become the ultimate sacrifice, allowed his people (us) to have access to Him. This concept is hard for the world to embrace and accept, it can only be done through faith.

Let me give you a simple but not perfect example of how we can have a duality of roles here on earth. You came up with a new invention or business concept, You decide to start a company you pour everything you are and have into the new company. You are the founder/owner at the same time you are an employee of the same company. You have two roles the creator and an employee. Jesus is part of humanity (employee) while also having the title and power of the creator (owner) of this company we call humanity.

In the book of John it state that in the beginning of the world that Jesus is the Word of God and the word was God.

In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:1-3, 14 ESV

Jesus wanted to know who the people thought he was, they replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” Then he saked them.

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 16:15-17 ESV

Jesus did not rebuke Peter for his revelation, in Hebrew culture, an adult son had the same authority as the father. Peter saw that Jesus demonstrated and had the power of God to create. This conversation with Peter and the other disciples was after seeing the miracles of Jesus feeding the five thousand people with just five loaves and two fishes.

Jesus himself knew by what authority he was doing all these miracles. Jesus stated many times in the scriptures that He would only do and say what he saw and heard the father do.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”
Matthew 28:18 ESV

The disciples were witnesses of the life of Jesus and the miracles that he performed as well as His death, burial, and resurrection. The previous verse (Matt 28:18) was the last direction that was given to the disciples in His resurrected body. The disciples made many references to Jesus being ALL GOD in their writings.

Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
2 Peter 1:1 ESV

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

yet for us, there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.
Deuteronomy 6:4 ESV – 1 Corinthians 8:6 ESV

In the New Testament, the authors would make partial references to the Old Testament (Hebrew scriptures). Every male Jew would have the first five books memorized by the time they reached their early teens. So a partial reference would bring the reader of that day back to God’s word. The scripture above (1 Cor 8:6) drew the reader back to Deuteronomy 6:4 which is a scripture that they prayed 2 to 3 times a day.

Jesus used this same method of quoting the Old Testament to reveal his divine nature as God. He used the verses in Exodus where God revealed his name to Moses.

Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”
Exodus 3:13-14 ESV

The Hebrew word I AM is “EHWEH” meaning “I will be” in the next verse Exodus 3:15 “God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.” The word Lord and I AM is YEHWEH meaning “He will be”. Jesus stated that he was I AM in a few verses when people questioned who he was.

So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
John 8:57-59 ESV

The Jews were wanting to stone Jesus because they knew he was stating that He was I AM most likely the personal form of “EHWEH – I will be”. This was a statement of his divinity and they would not believe he was the Messiah.

Then Jesus, knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, “Whom do you seek?” They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am he.” Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them. When Jesus said to them, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.
John 18:4-6 ESV

Jesus revealed his divinity to both the disciples, Judas, and the Romans soldiers, and because of that statement “EHWEH – I will be” they drew back and fell to the ground. The author of Philippians gives us a reason why they drawing back, chapter two verse ten “so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,”

Jesus is ALL MAN but He is also ALL GOD, and that at His name we will all bow. You have the choice to accept Jesus as your personal savior and begin to follow him. This is done by a simple pray (talking with God), something like this. “Jesus I believe you are all GOD, I believe you came to earth as a MAN and died for me that I can be accepted by you. I know that I have not done things the way you would like and would like to change so I can follow you.”.

If you prayed the above prayer then you are now part of God’s kingdom and a disciple. What a disciple does is begin to learn everything they can form there teacher. A good place to start is by reading the bible. There are two recommendations I would suggest begin read the book of John, second find a local community of believers (church or small group).
